Mauricio 'Chicho' Serna, a Boca Juniors idol and former member of the Football Council, found himself in an awkward moment when asked if the club's current president, Juan Román Riquelme, is stingy. According to the Argentine News Agency, the question was posed during his appearance on the Colombian program 'Sí era gol', where an artificial intelligence served as a panelist. His initial reaction was humorous, as he confessed that 'it had been many years since I had been put on the spot like that', but then he became serious and explained: 'The thing is, everyone believes that because it's Boca, they have to pay a lot of money. But surely Dr. Batista, the club's doctor, has conducted all the necessary evaluations of the case'. Serna played for Boca between 1998 and 2002, during which he won three local titles (Apertura 1998, Clausura 1999, and Apertura 2000) and three international ones (Copa Libertadores 2000 and 2001, and the 2000 Intercontinental Cup). As a member of the Football Council, he held the position from 2022 until August 2025. Serna also referred to the almost frustrated arrival of Colombian winger Edwuin Cetré: 'I had been told that he went to Brazil and there was some kind of cardiac arrhythmia. This is not my information, it's what I was told. I don't know if it's true or not, and I don't know if that's why he didn't pass the medical examination'. Finally, he gave his opinion on what might happen with the negotiation for the Colombian, who currently plays for Estudiantes de La Plata: 'I don't know if it will happen, if it won't happen, or if it has fallen through completely'.
